The Arc Group Board of Directors was deeply shocked and saddened at the Grenfell Tower tragedy last week. As the company has a long history of works to social housing, the Board concluded that all safety and quality standards must be reviewed and have issued the following statement:
The Grenfell Tower tragedy has, we are sure, moved us all and the repercussions will continue in the construction sector for some time.
Whilst we have an exemplary safety and quality record, we have concluded that, for residents’ and clients’ peace of mind, additional checks on our gas and electrical installations by an independent auditor are called for.
For this reason, from 1st July, a 20% random sample of our works will be assessed by an external consultant to ensure our works are both safe and compliant. Additionally, all value engineering exercises will be examined in detail to guarantee there are no safety implications.
To provide transparency, the auditor’s reports will be made available to clients.
Regarding residents’ feedback, we have always taken their comments very seriously and our resident liaison officers will continue to build good working relationships with homeowners and tenants alike to assure them that their views are important to us.
Internally, our Compliance Team will redouble their efforts to guarantee all management and operatives are working to our robust ISO9001 Quality Assurance and OHSAS18001 H&S Management procedures.
We regret deeply the dreadful circumstances that have led to these initiatives but feel that a positive, proactive response is required to meet the understandable unease many residents and clients will have following last week’s tragic events.
